Your outdoor space is an extension of your home, a place where you can unwind, entertain, and enjoy the fresh air. Choosing the right outdoor furniture is essential to creating a space that is not only functional but also reflects your style. Whether you have a spacious backyard or a cosy balcony, here's how you can select the perfect outdoor furniture for your space.

What Type of Furniture is Best for Outdoors?

When it comes to outdoor furniture, durability is important. The best outdoor furniture is designed to withstand the elements while providing comfort and style. Materials like reclaimed teak, teak, aluminium, and synthetic wicker are popular choices due to their resilience.

Teak is a hardwood that's naturally resistant to weather, rot, and insects, making it an excellent long-term investment. Shop Reclaimed Teak.

Our all-weather wicker offers the classic charm of wicker with added durability and weather resistance.

Aluminium is lightweight, rust-resistant, and easy to maintain all year round while retaining its alluring aesthetic. Shop aluminium in our Blake Collection and galvanised steel in our Kace Collection.

Which Outdoor Furniture is Best to Maintain?

Ease of maintenance is a crucial factor when selecting outdoor furniture. Aluminium and synthetic materials are typically the easiest to maintain, requiring just a simple wipe-down with soapy water to keep them looking new. Teak furniture, while durable, may require occasional oiling to maintain its rich colour and prevent it from greying over time.

How to Choose the Right Size Furniture for My Space?

The size and layout of your outdoor space are critical considerations when selecting furniture. Start by measuring your space and thinking about how you intend to use it. For smaller areas like balconies or patios, consider options that don't overwhelm the space, such as bar tables and stools.

For larger spaces, you can opt for lounges or an outdoor dining package to accommodate more guests.

A good rule of thumb is to leave enough room for movement around the furniture. You should also consider the shape of your furniture: round tables, for example, work well in smaller or square spaces, while rectangular tables are better suited for long, narrow areas.

How to Choose an Outdoor Sofa?

An outdoor sofa is a statement piece that can make your outdoor space feel like a true extension of your living room. When choosing an outdoor sofa, consider the material, comfort, and style.

It's important to choose a sofa with cushions that are not only stylish but also built to withstand the elements. Opt for fabrics designed for outdoor use, which can endure exposure to the sun and occasional rain while remaining comfortable and looking fresh. These weather-durable outdoor cushions are essential for maintaining your sofa's appearance and comfort throughout the seasons.

How to Choose Outdoor Chairs?

Outdoor chairs come in many styles and materials, so choosing the right ones depends on how you plan to use them. For dining, look for outdoor dining chairs or bench seats that are comfortable for sitting through meals and easy to move around the table. Stackable chairs are a practical choice if you need to store them away when not in use. For lounging, consider outdoor armchairs and occasional chairs that offer a more relaxed seating position.

Material is also important: wooden chairs have a classic appeal, while metal chairs offer a more modern look. Adding cushions can enhance comfort and add a splash of colour to your outdoor setup.

Ready to Transform Your Outdoor Area?

Choosing the perfect outdoor furniture is all about finding the right balance between functionality, style, and durability. By considering the material, ease of maintenance, size, and style, you can create an outdoor space that's perfect for relaxing, entertaining, and enjoying the outdoors.
