Choosing Dining Furniture in the Sale

Size the table to the room

Allow about 60 cm of table width for each person. Leave around 90 cm between the table edge and the nearest wall or furniture so chairs can slide out. Round dining tables suit smaller or square rooms and make conversation easy. Extendable dining tables are handy if you host bigger groups a few times a year.

Chairs, benches and stools

Check that chair seats sit comfortably below the table apron and that the arms fit under the top if you’d like to tuck them in. A dining bench saves space along one side and seats kids easily. For a kitchen bench or bar, choose bar stools with a seat about 25 to 30 cm below the benchtop.

Storage for the dining room

A buffet or sideboard keeps tableware, serving platters and table linen close at hand, and gives you a surface for lamps or a display.
